Zomba-based boxer, Yamikani Mtambo, has vowed to stop his counterpart, Bwanali Magalasi, in the second round of the scheduled six-round non-title fight on Sunday, September 8, scheduled at China Complex in Chinamwali, Zomba.
Mtambo, who has the Presidential Initiative on Sports Accolade, which he obtained earlier this year in Mzuzu, has vowed to teach his opponent a boxing lesson just the way he did to his elder brother.
“I am going to punish him, he will not even last the second round and I will show him that I am the Presidential Initiative on Sports champion and he is nobody in the boxing circles,” Mtambo challenged.
However, in a separate interview, his opponent Magalasi described the bout as payback time for his defeated brother.
He said despite facing a boxer who has some accolades to his name, Sunday’s fight will be a close contest.
“I know his boxing record but I am not moved with his threats and any mistake from him, he will live to regret,” said Magalasi.
The bout, which is being sponsored by China Complex Boxing Promotions, will be supported by a number of other amateur fights.
Yamikani Mtambo has a record of 78 bouts, registering six losses and drawn five times.
