Malawi women national netball team coach, Peace Chawinga Kaluwa, has described a K300 million FDH Bank sponsoring which has been directed to the queens, as a great motivation.
On Tuesday, FDH Bank unveiled a package of K360 million three year sponsorship to Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) of which K300 million will go directly towards sponsoring the Queens.
Kaluwa said the national team has for a long time been hampered financially despite the teams good performance.
She said: “You can agree with me that the queens have been going through many challenges and the root cause of such challenges is money and with this sponsorship I hope things will change to better.”
She further expressed gratitude to FDH Bank for the timely gesture.
However Kaluwa declined to disclose how the money would be used to for it to bear good fruit saying such question can better be responded by NAM officials.
Apart from a share towards the Queens, K45 million will fund a netball cup while K15 million will be used to run Netball Association administration.
The last time the Queens secured a sponsorship was in 2016 when they struck a K600 million five year deal with the Ratch Family Trust which failed to materialize after the trust failed to fulfil its obligations.
The Queens are on position 7 on the current world rankings and 3 in Africa.
