There was commotion on the morning of 25 February at the Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) when students held an emergency general assembly to discuss the leakage of last semester’s exams among other grievances.

Speaking to YFM vice president for the students union at MCA Michelle Sichinga said December results for auditing students were nullified an issue which did not go well with the students.

“Last December’s exam was leaked and students were angry that the results were nullified by the school authorities who told us to re write the exam but students were unprepared and asked for an extension to allow them prepare for the paper.”

“Our concern wasn’t responded to and after a week elapsed we decided to stage a strike at the school and that is when they gave us dates when the paper will be written.”

Meanwhile principal for the college Agrippa Phiri told YFM that students will re write the paper on the dates that have been communicated.

Phiri has also disclosed that they are working with police to investigate the exam leakage issue.

“I cannot disclose details of the paper which was leaked because that would compromise investigations but I can assure the students that we have engaged police on the matter and we hope to catch the culprits.”

Aside the exam leakage issue students at MCA are also faulting the college for the delay in releasing examination results and frequent cancellation of lectures.
