Agriculture Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) says it is planning to procure 600,000 metric tons of maize from farmers from April.
ADMARC Publicist Agnes Ndobvi told YFM that their officers are already in the field preparing farmers for the market.
“All the scales are sized, the budgets are done and we are ready to go on the market,” she said.
Ndovi said the grain marketer is currently waiting for the farm-gate prices which will be released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development.
She has since warned farmers against selling their yields to unscrupulous traders who usually rob-off farmers by buying at low prices.
“They should sell their maize to ADMARC because during the lean period they will still come back to ADMARC and buy the same maize at a very affordable price.”
