The Young Feminists Network has appealed to the new government to urgently address outstanding human rights violations by the former leadership.
In a statement signed by the secretary for the network Zaithwa Milanzi, key among the issues that need to be looked into is that of violence perpetrated on women and girls in Msundwe.
The movement has asked the new president to act on the violation of vulnerable groups including persons with albinism, women and girls among others.
Part of the statement reads: “This is a chance for Malawi to make significant strides in advancing gender equality in all sectors”.
The movement also hopes that the president will put into action his assurance that 40% of the cabinet will comprise of women.
