The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has commended Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for professionally presiding over the fresh presidential election.
A statement signed by eight catholic bishops in Malawi said despite the complications which MEC faced, the institution managed to diligently carry out the task with competence.
ECM has further said that MEC’s conduct has restored trust in the public.
They have also thanked the security enforcement agencies namely the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) and Malawi Police Service (MPS) who made sure that there was law and order, a prerequisite of a fair, free and peaceful electoral process.
The bishops have also commended Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for a good job in observing the election which is also a critical component of the electoral process as it ensures credibility.
