The High Court in Lilongwe has this morning adjourned to August 20, 2020 a case in which some concerned citizens are seeking for the nullification of 2019 local government and parliamentary elections.
High Court Judge Ruth Chinangwa has told parties in the Case that she needs 21 days to review submissions presented in the Case.
In an interview, spokesperson for the concerned citizens Prince Chokotho said through their lawyers, they are ready for commencement of the case.
“We are seeking for the nullification of the 2019 local government and parliamentary elections and we believe we have strong grounds to convince the Court to make a determination of our submission,” Chokotho said.
The case was previously on hold pending for a determination by the Supreme Court of Appeal on the Presidential Case.
In a dramatic twist of events, the current legislators have also joined the case in dispute that the High Court determination on the matter will have no impact on them.
