Over 1,000 Polytechnic students are at a high risk of failing to proceed with their education due to non-payment of tuition fees should well-wishers fail to bail them out.

Speaking to YFM, President for the Student’s Union Kunozga Mlowoka said cumulatively the students have an outstanding balance of over K250 million of which the institution has demanded to that they should clear it by Friday next week.

Mlowoka said it is in this regard that the students have written Higher Education Students Loans and Grants Board to give them a hand on the same.

“We need special intervention on this corner hence our letter to the Loans Board and copied the ministry of education to help us out,” said Mlowoka.

The students are said to have found themselves in this predicament because at one point they were given partial tuition fees to outsource the rest on their own, a development which Mlowoka said left them stranded.

Higher Education Students Loans and Grants Board is yet to respond on the matter.
