The Board of Directors for the Malawi Nation Examination Board (MANEB) has suspended MANEB Executive Director Gerald Chiunda.
According to the communication that YFM has seen and signed by the board Vice-Chairperson, Dr. Edith Mmela, the suspension is to pave way for investigations into the leakage of form four examinations which led to its cancellation.
Dr. Mmela said the board conducted a preliminary investigation which found that there was evidence of gross negligence in the efficient and effective management and conduct of the exam.
Further to thus the board also found that there was serious violations and probable commission of offences which contravenes with the MANEB Act.
The board however says Chiunda will be granted to be heard on the matter once investigations are concluded.
On November 4 this year, MANEB announced the cancellation of MSCE due to a widespread leakage of some examination papers.
