The Ministry of Education says candidates sitting for the Malawi School Certificate of Education-MSCE will report back to school on December 28, 2020 to prepare for examinations that are expected to be re-administered in January.
This follows the cancellation of this year’s MSCE exams on November 4, 2020 after some exam papers were leaked.
In light of this the ministry of education has issued guidelines to ensure that this ultimatum is met in the required timeframe.
These guidelines include: form four students returning to their respective schools by 28 December, the students will not pay school fees and exam fees also costs for practical examinations will not be paid as government will foot all costs.
Meanwhile, an education expert Steve Sharra has commended government for the move saying this will ease some of the burden from the student’s guardians.
“The decision to remove the burden of the fees from the shoulders of the parents is very commendable because they were going to pay twice for something that is not their fault,” said Sharra.
Meanwhile continuing students have been told to report to school on the 5th of February 2021 to ensure that there is a smooth bridge into the 2021 academic year.
