The netball fraternity is in grief following the death of former Malawi Queens coach Griffin ‘Zagalo’ Saenda on Thursday.
Saenda died in the early hours of Thursday at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre where he was admitted last week after a minor stroke.
Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general secretary Carol Bapu described Saenda’s death as a great loss to netball.
Malawi Netball team star Mwawi Kumwenda described Saenda as a true legend.
“A huge sense of loss that I feel. To know he is no more is definitely a hard hit for the country. A tremendous loss,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
Saenda historically guided the Queens to third place at the 2016 Fast Five World netball series having beaten heavy weights England and Jamaica.
