The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has disclosed that next week it will arrest two more individuals in relation to former deputy minister of Homeland Security Charles Mchacha’s land case.

ACB’s Director General Reyneck Matemba told journalists in Lilongwe on Thursday that of the two suspects, one is a Member of Parliament (MP).

“Even though we have a warrant of arrest for him we decided not to arrest him because he is conducting Parliamentary business which is a national duty.

” We know that he knows and we will invite him to the ACB next week on Monday or Tuesday and we will formally charge him,” he said.

Matemba also said the other accused person is out of the country.

“We will get in touch with him to formally inform him of the warrant of arrest and we hope he will be able to cooperate and come back to Malawi to answer those allegations.

Matemba also said the Bureau has recorded 28 new cases of alleged corruption from November bringing the total number of cases to 207.

Mchacha was arrested on Sunday and later released on bail by Principal Resident Magistrate ViVa Nyimba.

He is answering four charges, three of which are bordering on inducing a public officer to perform functions corruptly to secure land.
