Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) says the country needs more law enforcers to win the battle against trafficking in persons.
MHRC’s Executive Secretary Habiba Osman said this in Mponera, Dowa at the opening of a three-day training on trafficking in persons and legal framework for Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
Osman said Malawi needs to strengthen its borders by increasing the number of law enforcers patrolling all borders.
She has also stressed the need for the country to do more on information dissemination so that everyone is aware of issues of trafficking in persons.
The training has been organised by the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) with an aim of bringing understanding to the refugees on issues of trafficking in persons.
