A 61-year-old woman was found dead on Tuesday, sitting on a toilet in Dowa district, police say.

The woman has been identified as Nalian Tambala from Kalinda Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chiwere.

Dowa Police Spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha said the deceased’s nephew found Tambala’s body when she want to ease himself.

“It is reported that, on this particular day, the deceased brother, Chabula Patson, and his family left home to the maize garden and came back around 12:30 hours,” he said.

“Upon his arrival, the deceased brother asked his son, Christopher, if he had seen his grandmother but he told his father that he did not see her.

“Later Christopher went to answer a call of nature and he was surprised to find his grandmother whilst seated on the toilet as if she was sleeping.”

The matter was reported to police who in accompany of a Medical Assistant from Chankhungu Health Centre confirmed that death was due to stroke.
