Police in Lilongwe on Wednesday arrested 10 Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) officials in connection with the K6.2 billion Covid-19 funds abuse.

National Police Spokesperson, James Kadadzera, has confirmed the development to YFM.

Kadadzera said all the suspects are expected to answer charges of theft by a public servant.

Police also Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) Deputy Director, Fyawupi Mwafongo, in connection with the abuse of Covid-19 funds.

The arrests follows an order by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Steve Kayuni to Inspector General of Police George Kainja to start criminal investigations against the abuse of Covid-19 funds.
