As one way of promoting creativity and innovation among students in various schools across the country, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has introduced the annual young innovators awards.
According to a statement made available to YFM the development is in line with the National Education Policy of 2016 which among others seeks to promote a disciplinary approach to science and technology in the country.
“The award aims at promoting innovations and creativity among young in school and out of school in any field of science,” reads part of the statement.
“This is in line with the 2016 National Education Policy that seeks to promote a multidisciplinary approach to science and technology education with much emphasis on basic knowledge, life skills and scientific literacy, modern science, science research and innovation and the Malawi vision 2063 that aims at commercialization of local innovations.
The ministry has therefore called upon and urged young Malawians below 30 years to embrace this new challenge and take part in it.
Commenting on the matter, one of the education experts in the country, Limbani Nsapato has commended the gesture saying it is a move in the right direction.
He said the development will help many young people to realize their dream and develop the nation at large.
