Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa has found former cabinet minister Henry Mussa and former Director of information Gideon Munthali with a case to answer.
The two, who appeared before the Magistrate’s Court in Lilongwe on Tuesday are being accused of conspiracy to commit a felony and receiving stolen property which are computers and generators of the Information Ministry.
In an interview, lawyer representing Mussa; Gilbert Khonyonga said the defence is ready to present its submissions in accordance with determination of the court.
“Our reaction is that we have heard the findings of the court that the second accused honourable Mussa has got a case to answer with regards to conspiracy as well as receiving stolen property.
“From that we are going to sit down and prepare the defense so that when we come on July 26, we should be able to present our side of the story, so we are prepared to give our evidence,” said Khonyonga.
However, Magistrate Chirwa says on a charge of stealing, the second accused has been found with no case to answer.
Hearing of the matter has been adjourned to July 26, 2021 where the defense is expected to present its side of the matter.
