Four teams have reached the semi-finals of YONECO under 14 Trophy after a round of games that took place at Zomba Police ground on Friday.
In an interview with YFM online, the Community Mobilization Coordinator, Jacob Nyirongo said: “It was exciting to see large numbers of people during the matches and this has assisted them in reaching out to more youth since during the matches they also conducted sexual reproductive health (SRH) sessions,”
“The tournament is aimed at engaging the youth so as to keep them away from indulging in immoral behaviors.”
The chairman for Malawi School Sports Association (MASA) in Zomba city, Fatso Tepheya Chanza expressed gratitude for the initiative.
Chanza said: “The initiative which YONECO is doing is keeping the youth busy since without these sporting activities most of the youth could have been busy with bad behaviors like smoking chamba, drinking beer and aindulging in unprotected sex.”
Leticals, Namalaka FC, Police and Pure dream are the teams who have reached the semifinals.
