The African Institute for Corporate Citizenship (AICC) commended the progress of this year’s cotton market is progressing well and that there are a lot of positive developments this year as compared to last year.
AICC Chief Executive Officer Felix Lombe said that one of the positives on the market is that farmers have improved buying prices which are just above government’s farm-gate price.
“Our feedback in terms of the prices that are being offered to the farmer, we can confirm that the lowest that has been offered so far has been 340 kwacha which is above the minimum of K320 which has been set by the government,” said Lombe
Apart from this he also hinted on the quantity of cotton that has been brought forward as being exciting since it is way above the quantity that was registered in the previous year.
