The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has called on political parties, Civil Society organizations among other electoral stakeholders to come forth with submissions for its comprehensive review of boundaries of all constituencies.
In an interview with YONECO FM Online MEC Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa has described the views as crucial for the exercise and that they will go a long way to assist MEC in preparing for the 2025 tripartite elections.
“The Commission is currently conducting public sensitisations on review of boundaries and we are organising meetings across the country and giving an opportunity to everyone to give their views.”
“We are aware that not everyone can attend the meetings that we are conducting that is why MEC has opened it up to the entire nation so that anyone who has an issue or an idea which they want the commission to consider when it is reviewing boundaries for constituencies and wards they should make a written submission,” he said.
MEC has given all electoral stakeholders until October 20, 2021 to make their submissions to their respective councils.
