The Ministry of Health has advised Malawians entering the country from abroad to continue following strict adherence to Covid-19 preventive measures.
This follows a move by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 to lift travel restrictions of people entering the country from countries which registered high cases of the pandemic.
Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Health, Adrian Chikumbe, said Malawians should not relax as South Africa has reported a new variant of Covid-19.
“We still have to uphold high levels of compliance with extreme measures,” he said.
“We still have to balance between maintaining restrictions than to suffer in other areas.”
Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services Public Relations Officer, Wellington Chiponde, said the department has put in place measures which travelers must follow.
“Every person who is entering and exiting the country is supposed to abide by the measures put in place,” said Chiponde.
Some of the measures include presenting a negative PCR Covid-19 test results done not more than 72 hours before arrival in Malawi.
