The Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Blantyre has set October 6, 2021 for a final judgement in a case which two women are accused of assaulting a nurse while she was on duty at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

The two, Esnart Selemani, 53, and her daughter Yankho, 30, allegedly assaulted the nurse, Gertrude Moffat, 26, on February 17, 2021, in Ward 5A after she asked them to leave the ward due to Covid-19 restrictions.

On Friday, the defence paraded four witnesses including the two accused persons who were also cross-examined by the state.

In his ruling, Senior Resident Magistrate Akya Mwanyongo has given both sides 21 days to make their final submissions before passing his final judgement on October 6.
