Information and Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) says government should come up with clear policies as mandate in order to promote the struggling Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services in the country.
This has come when ICTAM is expected to hold its international ICT Expo on 27 September this year to find ways how Malawi can use the ICT services to promote the economy of the country.
President for ICTAM Bram Fudzulani says a major challenge affecting the ICT industry is the gap between those people who have access to ICT services and those people who do not have access to ICT services.
“I urge government to revise tax for on ICT equipment’s like mobile phones as one way of curbing the problems the ICT sector is facing in the country,” said Fudzulani.
He further said National Statistical Office (NSO) and Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) conducted a research in 2019 which established that ICT services in the country are there is high illiteracy on ICT services in the country.
