Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 has relaxed some of the Covid-19 preventive measures.
Making the announcement in Lilongwe, the Taskforce’s co-chairperson Khumbize Chiponda said all public transport limitations have been removed and 10pm curfew has been lifted.
“Limitations for workplaces have been lifted to normal office capacity but subject to observance of recommended general public health preventive measures.
“Limitations on public transport carriage have been lifted to normal capacity of the vehicle but subject to observance of recommended general public health preventive measures.
“50% of the venue for indoor events, with a maximum of 500 persons, subject to observance of recommended general public health preventive measures, especially use of face masks, frequent washing of hands, use of sanitizers and social distancing,” said Chiponda.
Chiponda added that the country is now classified at level one of the pandemic.
The Taskforce has also called upon all those who got all doses of the jab that they can voluntarily get booster jabs as long as there is a 12-week period since getting the first jab of Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine.
She said: “Covid-19 vaccine booster dose can now be administered voluntarily to anyone eligible based on the country’s recommendation on booster vaccines.
All those who had received their dose of Johnson and Johnson and more than 12 weeks have elapsed will receive the second dose of Johnson and Johnson as a booster dose.”
As of February 16, 2022, a total of 1,905,783 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.
