Workers at the national power supplier, Escom, have distanced themselves from reports that they are planning to implement a national blackout as a way of pushing for a 35 percent salary increment.

For the past week, some Facebook politicians such as Gerlad Kampanikiza have been over the moon over the said impending strike.
According to Kampanikiza, a self declared intelligence chief for self exiled Joyce Banda, all Escom fault centres won’t be in operation by Monday; all customer care and revenue collection offices won’t be in operation by Tuesday; all National control won’t be in operation while the all power out campaign will officially start on Thursday.
But Escom Workers’ Union General Secretary Joseph Kamwendo, watered down Kampanikiza’s hallucinations, saying while they are pushing for the rights of the workers, they are also mindful of the responsibility they have on Malawians.
“We have not declared any action as we are still discussing with our employers, and we will dully update the Nation on the out come of the discussions. We don’t know where these rmour mongers are sourcing their information,” said Kamwendo.
