The Ministry of Energy says it will work on strengthening national, regional, and international cooperation in energy generation and supply in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
The Ministry’s Principal Secretary Patrick Matanda told Yoneco Fm online the K900 million budgetary allocation will assist in managing and utilising energy resources.
“It was a matter of us presenting to the committee what we have planned to do in the year that we are planning for, that’s the year 2022-2023,” Matanda said.
“But will also give an amount of what we have done with the money that they give us last year. So it was a matter of presenting the to them the issues that we are doing.”
Matanda added that being a new Ministry, they will also work towards strengthening institution capacity.
“We are a new ministry as a young ministry so there are certain things that we thought we needed to bring to the attention of the committee so that they know,” Matanda said.
“There is an improvement, so we are fairly happy with the allocation that has been given to us.”
Among other notable achievements in 2021-2022 fiscal year, the Ministry upgraded 75 kilowatts Mantchewe Minigrid in Livingstonia in Rumphi District.
