Zomba City Festival returns next month with a four-day event from April 29 to May 4 which include culture, heritage and nature.
Dereck Nyirenda, one of the organizers for the festival said visitors of the festival will explore the green city at the foot of a 2,000m mountain through moving from one venue to the other.
“The opening is on Friday 29th April at Gymkhana Club in one of the historical buildings and, on Saturday and Sunday there is a visual arts exhibition in the Botanical gardens. Early morning hikes take people up to Ku Chawe where the hikers can do some yoga stretches and enjoy the stunning views,” Nyirenda said.
Nyirenda adds that the attendees will also enjoy live music by Pakachere from the DJ and other musicians like Sangie, Dali and Waliko Makhala among others. Also there will be coffee tasting, poetry and book reading at Heritage Centre.
The festival has been opened to all ages and supervised children under the age of 12 enter free of charge and participants will enjoy VIP programmes.
“This year, the festival rolls out a VIP programme for those who want to celebrate in style. Get driven from venue to venue in the VIP shuttle, enjoy private VIP lounges, receive a goodie bag and exciting extras such as swimming at Ku Chawe while enjoying the beautiful views,” he said.
Zomba Arts Platform supports arts in the country in various ways such as through training, internships; among others and this is the second edition of whirlwind event of culture, heritage and nature of Zomba district.
