Government has instituted an investigation into allegations that a Chinese national, Lu Ke, has been exploiting Malawian children by shooting video clips and selling them in China.
This follows a BBC Africa Eye investigation in which a BBC journalist Runako Celina and a Malawian journalist Henry Mhango traced the man in Njerwa village in Lilongwe where he has been allegedly shooting video clips.
In one of the videos, Lu Ke told a group of children aged between 3 and 10 to speak Chinese, saying that “they are black devils and have low IQ”, and one 4 year old boy revealed that the suspect would pinch and beat them if they did not do as he ordered.
Deputy Director of Child Affairs in the Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Justin Hamela said the act is demining the dignity and pride of children.
