Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera) Chief Executive Officer Henry Kachaje dismissed on Thursday reports of fuel prices hike.
In a statement, Kachaje said petroleum prices remain as effected on June 23, 2022.
Kachaje said Mera Board has not met to review fuel prices.
“The Mera Board, the only Authority responsible for determining prices of energy sales and services, has not made any fresh determination on energy prices,” Kachaje said in a statement.
The social media was awash on Thursday with a report allegedly from Reserve Bank of Malawi purporting that Mera Board met on July 5, 2022 to review fuel prices to K2 284 per litre for diesel, K2 270 for petrol and K1 627 for paraffin.
