Minister of Information and Digitization Gospel Kazako says time has come to resolve the misunderstandings between the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) and licence holders.
Kazako made the remarks in Blantyre during the open day event which MACRA in collaboration with the Ministry of Information engaged MACRA licensees, prospective licensees and the consumers of information and communications technologies services.
The interface meeting comes at a time when ICT operators which include telecommunications, courier operators, and broadcasters are owing MACRA a sum of K9.4 billion in licence fees and levy arrears.
Kazako further said the open days are being conducted against the realization of the impact that the communications sector has on the country’s economy.
“The impact that Communications Services have on our economy is clearly envisioned in our strategic economic and development blueprint, the Malawi 2063,” said Kazako.
