Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust (MLW) says it is geared to continue doing research that will address existing problems in the health sector both locally and internationally.
Interim director of MLW Professor Henry Mwandumba indicated that they’re working on research that will respond to climate change and how it is affecting people’s health.
“We know that climate change has changed, and it has got a huge impact on the health of people through flooding and diseases caused by floods but also diseases caused by drought,” Mwandumba said.
“As a research institution we have to think of ways to address these problems and work with government on how best to deal with them in order to preserve life and improve people’s health”.
Additionally, Mwandumba indicated that they are doing research that informs a lot of policies that the Malawi government is putting into practice to improve the health of the nation.
He made the remarks as the organization is celebrating its 25th anniversary which will conclude on September 17, 2022.
