Zomba district commissioner Reighard Chavula has pledged to enhance service delivery in order to qualify for this year’s World Bank’s funded Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) performance-based grant.

The council qualified for the 2023 GESD grant amounting to K742 million after scooping seventh position in the Local Government Performance Assessment (LAPA) results.

Chavula vowed to continue enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in areas of financial management, development planning, procurement, and health service delivery among others.

“We intend to keep it that way and even get better positions,” said Chavula during a get-together and award presentation ceremony for best performing sectors in LAPA.

“We have therefore put in place mechanisms whereby we are able to track quarterly, how each sector is performing on the LAPA indicators.”

Chavula said the council is also working tirelessly to incarnate the culture of following guidelines and procedures among employees in order to make a positive impact on people’s lives in the district.
