Police in Chikwawa district are keeping in custody 21-year-old Fred Binzi and a 17-year-old boy for being found in possession of cannabis sativa without permit.

Sergeant Dickson Matemba, the station’s public relations officer, said the two were arrested following the Basadi Operation by women police officers in the district.

“Following a tip, the women police officers found the duo at Ngabu trading centre, where they were found with several cannabis twists and a plastic bag full of loose cannabis,” said Matemba.

Basadi is a three-day operation done by women police officers annually.
