Vice President Usi urges swift action on delayed fuel shipment

Vice President Michael Usi has directed stakeholders in the country’s fuel procurement and supply chain to urgently resolve challenges delaying the arrival of 31 million liters of fuel from Tanzania.

Usi made the call during a meeting in Lilongwe with the Minister of Energy, representatives from the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA), and the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA).

Following the discussions, Usi expressed satisfaction with the meeting’s outcome, stating that if the proposed solutions are effectively implemented, they will lead to positive and lasting results.

“We had a list of suggested solutions that the stakeholders brought forward, and after rigorous discussions we have landed on one solution. I am satisfied with the results of the meeting, and implementation of this solution is effective,” he said.
Malawi has been grappling a fuel crisis since last year.
