The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has asked Zomba District Council to be vibrant in implementing the newly launched District Development Plan.
The minister responsible Kondwani Nankhumwa said this during the launch of the five-year district development plan at Gymkhana ground in Zomba.
Speaking to YFM, Nankhumwa said the council should put the document to full use at all times so that it serves its intended purpose of developing and transforming rural areas.
Nankhumwa urged other councils to establish their development plans that can direct development.
“For each and every institution to prosper it plans its activities, now for district councils it is very important that they need to have the district development plan because this is the blue print for development activities to take place in a particular district.
Nankhumwa thanked partners such as LGAP Local Government Accountability and Performance (LGAP) for assisting districts in the formation of development plans.
In his remarks, the District Commissioner for Zomba Emmanuel Bambe said they are determined to implement the K106 billion plan and perform their duties to the expectations of the people living in the district.
