The High Court sitting in Zomba on Wednesday quashed an application by the state owned broadcaster, Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation-MBC to cover live the proceedings of a case involving the killing of a 22-year-old man with albinism, MacDonald Masambuka.
Speaking to YFM after the ruling, Senior Deputy Chief State Advocate, Steven Kayuni, said the court came up with its ruling on the grounds that the applicant delayed to make the application among other reasons.
Kayuni further said the state is satisfied with the ruling by Justice Zione Ntaba citing that covering the case live would have put the defense witnesses under pressure.
The case of 12 suspects accused of murdering a 22-year-old man with albinism, MacDonald Masambuka is expected continue on May 6, 2019 at the High Court in Zomba.
The remains of Masambuka were found buried in Machinga several weeks after he went missing.
