The Ministry of Health has said it is in the process of recruiting additional 1,200 nurses in order to address the shortage of healthcare staff in the country’s public hospitals.
Minister responsible Atupele Muluzi told YFM online that 700 nurses have so far been interviewed as part of the recruitment process.
“We are looking to continue this process and at the end of it all we intend to meet the target of ensuring that at least 1200 nurses are recruited by the end of the year,” he said.
Muluzi said frontline staff especially nurses are very critical to the success of the provision of health care to Malawians.
