More than 100 girls have been withdrawn from child marriages in Mangochi and Mchinji districts.
The More Than Brides Alliance Project Coordinator at Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO), Charles Banda said the girls were withdrawn in the first half of 2017.
‘’Since we rolled out the project in the two districts, a lot of people now understand the dangers of child marriages and are now able to report perpetrators,’’ he said.
In Mangochi, the project is being implemented in Traditional Authorities Namabvi and Makanjira.
In Mchinji, implementation is taking place in the area of Traditional Authority Zulu.
YONECO is working together with Save the Children and Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM) in implementing the project with financial support from Simavi.
