Congolese musician, Awilo longomba, is to headline this year’s Sand Music Festival which will take place from 27th to 29th October at Livingstonia Beach in Salima district.
Director of Impact Events, organisers of the Festival, Lucius Banda said they are fully prepared to host another memorable festival this year.
“The main artist Awilo Longomba has confirmed his coming. Fellow artist Thula Sizwe of the “Mungo Africa” from South Africa is also coming. Local artists have also confirmed,” he said.
Banda said this year’s festival is different due to its concentration of African music as part of the celebration of African music.
“You will notice that the first musicians that we unveiled internationally are coming from South Africa, DRC. We have Zambian artists and we someone from Zimbabwe and Namibia,” Banda said.
Sand music festival is the only international festival taking place this year after the postponement of Lake of stars and Likoma music festivals this year.
For the past years the Sand Music Festival has brought in the country top musicians such as Busy Signal and Diamond Platinumz.
