As one way of enhancing early childhood development (ECD) in the country, Village X, a nongovernmental organization has constructed a nursery school block at Chimpeni village , Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba district.

The development comes amid concerns that children under ECD in the area have been learning under harsh conditions due to lack of proper learning structures.

Speaking during the official handover of the nursery school block, Country Director for the organization, Myson Jamboz said the structure will ease some challenges pupils have been facing.

“The nursery school will help on issues of long distances. The community decided to come up with the nursery school so that children should be learning near the community,” he explained.

Jamboz added that the block will also help to improve access to quality education in the area as kids from neighbouring villages will also be benefiting

Village X was approved by the Malawi government on 23 October 2014.
