Kanengo Police Station is keeping in custody three men for illegal possession of ivory valued at K2.3 Million.
Kanengo Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Laban Makalani said the three were arrested at Kanengo Industrial Area following a tip-off.
Makalani said prior to the arrest, the three, who reside in Namitete had travelled to Kanengo in search for a market.
“The three, identified as, David Nyadani (39), Mike Jozefe (37), and Wisdom Milosi (49) all of them from T/A Kalolo in Lilongwe,” he said.
Makalani said the men are answering offences of Illegal Possession of Protected Species and Dealing in Government Trophies contrary to section 86(1) and 91 of the Wildlife Act respectively.
