The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development says the Descent and Affordable Housing Subsidy program (DAHSP) is being underfunded.
The spokesperson in the Ministry, Charles Vintula told YFM online that there has been delays in funding the project this year.
“Parliament allocated K7 billion for the project in the 2017/2018 national budget but less funds have been allocated so far to the ministry,” Vintula explained.
He said the challenge is obstructing many people from benefiting from the program.
Vintula said: “currently the grant component of the subsidy program has only managed to construct 24 houses out of a total target of 1930 houses.
The descent and affordable housing subsidy program rolled out in 2015 with an aim of improving the housing of the country’s citizenry.
