Government is not ready to reveal the names of Members of Parliament who allegedly misused about K80 million from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in their respective areas.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Davis Sado has revealed this to YFM online.
Sado said the names will not presented in the forthcoming Parliamentary session until after the councils where the money was stolen from, have submitted their final report on the matter.
An audit conducted in 2016 showed that from the K80 million was stolen out of K3 billion given to 16 district councils under the CDF and District Development Funds (DDF).
Sado said the report was given to the Ministry of Local Government and a Special Committee was established to look into issues which were raised.
“It is procedure that when the audit comes out, it is given time to explain to issues which were raised. So let’s wait for final report so that the Minister can make a decision on how to proceed according to the Public Financial Management Act,” he said.
The 47th session of Parliament will be opened by President Peter Mutharika this Friday.
