TNM super league title holders, Kamuzu Barracks FC on Monday suffered a 3-1 defeat from the hands of MAFCO FC at Civo stadium in Lilongwe.
Kamuzu Barracks started the first half on a promising note when they managed to open the score line through their hit man Harvey Nkacha but their celebrations did not last for long.
The team failed to defend their lead when MAFCO FC came from behind to level the scores through Benard Harawa before addin other two through Zikani Sichinga and Zikhole Nguluwe.
After the game Kamuzu Barracks coach, Billy Phambala, accepted the defeat saying his boys squandered a lot of chances.
“In the first 12 to 15 minutes of the first half we had a lot of clear chances but we failed to utilize them as a result pressure came back on us especially when we conceded the first two goals. Our boys got frustrated,” said Phambala.
MAFCO coach, Temwa Msuku, expressed his gratitude for collecting a maximum of three points.
“These three points are very important to us as we fight to finish in top three of the log table. We are confident that we will dislodge silver strikers from the third position.”
MAFCO FC has now replaced Blue Eagles on the fourth position and they have 41 points from 24 games while KB remains on eighth position with 31 points from 23 games.
