The Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development has intensified the monitoring of the implementation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Spokesperson for the Ministry, Davis Sado revealed this to YFM online after a report by the Civil Society Organizations in Rumphi district revealed that millions of Kwacha in the 2016/2017 fiscal year was allegedly spent on unnamed projects.
Sado said the Ministry is motoring CDF activities through committees which are now operating hand in hand with the Government.
He also added that the monitoring is also being conducted by a special institution which in turn sends reports to the Ministry to review on how the funds have been used.
Speaking on the report, Sado said Government will make its own audit to review how the funds have been used.
“As Government we have also our mechanism of trying to assure quality on the use of resources. We will be working together with the colleagues in the Ministry of Local Government to map the way forward,” he said.
