Government has called for all stakeholders to help in acceleration of access to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers.
This call was made at a press briefing which was hosted by the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare in preparation for the early childhood development week which will commence on Monday November 20, 2017.
Speaking to YFM, the Minister responsible Dr Jean Kalilani, said Government is committed for this cause as it has already developed a policy which has been approved and will help in addressing the challenges that ECD is facing in the country.
“The idea is that we should accelerate the rate at which ECD services are being delivered the way children access the services it must be greater than what is happening now. All children must access ECD services. Anybody eight years and younger must go to an ECD,” Kalirani explained.
Activities to mark this year’s ECD week will be held at Lunzu Community ground and there after an ECD conference which will bring together stakeholders and care givers will start in Mangochi on Tuesday.
