The Governments of Malawi and United States of America thorough USAID have embarked on a project of constructing five Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSS) in Machinga district.
The South East Education Division Manager, Macgregory Alufandika said: “This development comes in considering the challenges which students have been facing in the district in order to access secondary school education.”
Alufandika further said that students more especially girls face challenges since some of them travel a distance of between 15 to 20 kilometers.
“On Monday the November 20 there was a ground breaking ceremony at Mwalasi in Machinga district where the Minister of Education, Bright Msaka and the United States Ambassador to Malawi were present,” he said.
Alufandika disclosed that the construction works are expected to be concluded in September next year.
