The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) has expressed concern over the return of flood victims to areas which were hit by floods last week.
This comes barely a week after 1,000 people were displaced by the floods in Lilongwe that also claimed the lives of six people.
DoDMA Public Relations Officer, Chipiliro Khamula encouraged people to remain at the camp to avoid being affected by further flooding.
“People should remain at the camp at Full Gospel Church around Kawale area. It is not safe for people to go back to their respective homes as the country is still receiving rains.”
Khamula said that currently the camp which the department erected at Kawale is holding 58 people with 16 families which are being given all the basic necessities.
