National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe has trained officers from Kanengo Police Station in order to improve service delivery.
National Crime Prevention and Partnership Desk Officer, Assistant Superintendent George Pindani, said the training was aimed at equipping the officers with customer care management skills.
“Recently we have witnessed the torching of police units in different parts of the country as a clear manifestation of lack of public satisfaction,” Pindani, who was among the facilitators said.
He further expressed the need for the officers perform up to the expectations.
“This is 21st century so the police needs to satisfy the public and this can only be realized if officers embrace friendliness, respect, swiftness and speed in their approach,” Pindani said.
In his remarks the Station Officer for Kanengo Police, Senior Superintendent Vanancio Pankuku, described the initiative as timely.
Pankuku, who represented the Officer-in-Charge for the station, said the initiative has equipped the officers with the needed knowledge which will enable them to improve their relationship with members of general public.
A total of 40 police officers drawn from police formations within Kanengo Police Station attended the workshop.
