The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) has partnered with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in building a source book about disaster management in primary schools.
The Publicist for DoDMA said: “The idea is to impart knowledge about disaster management among the primary school learners and they will help the communities once they acquire the skills from the source book.”
“As a department they want to first lay a foundation among the primary school learners and if all goes well with the development partners, another book will be developed for secondary schools,” Khamula told YFM online in an interview.
He said schools play a vital role in imparting knowledge to leaner’s and hence facilitating social economic development hence the introduction of the book to bring new skills to the leaner’s.
He further said that the development of the source book started in November 2016 and is expected to be finalized in April this year.
